Picnik

Overview
Picnik is an online program available for free, that enables teachers and students to upload images which they can then alter, refine and customise through adding borders and other items, together with traditional modifications.

Strength
Free to use, available online so everyone has access to it. Great features available for free and the option of paying a small fee and having access to premium features. It seems easy to use, so minimal scaffolding would be needed. This is a tool for life skills students can use the program and knowledge learned after they have completed school to modify their own photos.

Weakness
Can be time consuming to get the final picture how the teacher or student wants it and it will take time to be fully conversant with the program.

Opportunity
Great for students to modify and customize photos to be used in class and in assignments without the expense of a full program.

Threat
Can be time consuming, care would need to be taken to ensure students practice good time management skills and teachers will need to monitor student progress to ensure they are staying in allocated time frames.

Compatibility with learning styles
Great for visual learners and for interpersonal learning style due to the interaction with others and creating for social reasons.

Picnik can be used for Connectivism and as a reward for Behaviourism.

Meaning to me
A great tool to use in the classroom and I would give it as an option for students to use to complete assignments and for class projects. As the above picture shows it is a great tool for special occasions or times of year like Christmas.
